Set in the real life town of Boring, Oregon in 1996, the series revolves around Boring High School’s A/V Club and Drama Club— two crews of nerdy-punk outsiders, who join forces to make a movie and endure the purgatory known as high school. While there’s no lack of ’90s pop-culture references, the show is a universal coming of age experience for anyone who has been or felt like an outsider.
